Les Doll: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Interview with Les Doll (7) | | | | | Sunil | | For the E-Books that you're selling, how do you have that set up? | | | | Les | | I use ClickBank exclusively for credit card orders - they do all the collecting, billing, accounting etc., for a reasonable fee. This allows me more time to do promotions and to write more e-books! I have never had a problem with ClickBank, in fact, their customer services are excellent. A merchant account, in my opinion, is expensive to set up, expensive to maintain and too time consuming to run.
I learned most of the set up from your excellent tutorial at http://www.ebookapprentice.com/ - it was invaluable!
For customers that do not want to order online, I have an order page with a printable form. I accept mail-in checks and will soon accept online checks.
Regarding my for sale e-books, I have set up my chapters in two sections. One section is free, the other section is password protected. I think this allows the reader to sample the whole book, and if they are interested in more, then they can purchase the password.
One of the great features of Activ E-Book compiler is the multiple passwords. If some one purchases the password and then "gives" it to their friends, the password protected sections will not open on the friends computer. This is an important feature, as it reduces pirated copies and results in more sales. | | | | | | Sunil | | How do your promote your e-books? | | | | Les | | Mostly I promote my e-books through my web site http://www.rverscorner.com and my newsletter http://www.rverscorner.com/newltr.html. I also have a few affiliates that sell the books through ClickBank's affiliate setup.
I offer a 50% commission to my affiliate sellers - while the effort of writing the e-book is mine, an affiliate also puts forth an equal effort when promoting the featured e-book. The 50-50 arrangement seems fair to me... I would not have that sale if the affiliate did not make it.
Promotion is a never ending task! | | | | | Next > >
