Interview with Richard Grady (3)

Sunil    Which e-book compiler/creation software do you use?

Richard    Activ E-Book of course!

Sunil    Why did you select our e-book compiler software

Richard    As I say, when I wrote the wholesale guide, I had no idea that such a thing as an eBook even existed.  I was sitting at my PC one day, desperately trying to think of a way of combining my 10 HTML pages into a single file and I came across an eBook compiler on the Internet.  It wasn't Activ E-Book Compiler, but at the time, I didn't realise I had a choice!  Anyway, I tried to purchase the 'competitor' product, but their credit card processor was down.  I then spent some time searching for alternatives, came across Activ E-Book, downloaded the free version, realised it did everything and more that it's competitors did and was much cheaper and the rest is history.

Sunil    Any other interesting software that you use (HTML authoring programs, marketing tools, etc.)?

Richard    All sorts - when I originally built my first web page, I used a program called CoolPage to design it. I still use CoolPage today (despite having a copy of Dreamweaver on my PC!) as it is so simple and quick to use - a true 'drag and drop' designer.  Other software I wouldn't be without includes Infacta's Group Email for managing my mailing list and Opt-In Automator for getting subscribers.

Sunil    Do you use an e-commerce solution (ClickBank, PayPal, Merchant Account, etc.), and if yes how did you select it?

Richard    I started off using ClickBank and the reason was simply because I noticed that this was who processed the payment when I purchased Activ eBook Compiler.  I still use ClickBank and I have never had any problems with them, though I now also use 2Checkout as I wanted to take advantage of their slightly lower charges and recurring billing facility.
