Richard Grady: 1 2 3 4 Interview with Richard Grady (4) | | | | | Sunil | | How successful have you been with e-books? | | | | Richard | | I am very pleased with how things have gone. The 'UK-Trader's UK Wholesale Guide' has grown considerably in size and I have sold several thousand copies. In addition, this guide is now included in Tom Hua's FreetoSell package†, so another 5000 or so have resale rights. I am even achieving success in getting the wholesalers listed in the guide to pay for their 'advertising'. In addition to the wholesale site, I also have a second website, www.ebooksnow.co.uk†, which sells the more traditional 'how to' eBooks and this too is proving to be successful. | | | | | | Sunil | | How do you promote your e-books? What methods work best for you? | | | | Richard | | A bit of everything really. I have some very good search engine positions for the UK-Trader site (in particular with Google). I also use pay-per-click and still advertise by selling on online auctions. Getting the wholesale guide listed in the FreeToSell package† has also helped with visitor numbers, as the eBook is full of links back to my site. | | | | | | Sunil | | If you had to offer one piece of advice to a novice considering getting into e-book publishing what would you say? | | | | Richard | | Spend the time making your eBook a 'quality' product. There are already loads of poor quality publications out there and if you have something really good, it will stand out. | | | | | | Sunil | | If you have to start over, would you do anything differently? | | | | Richard | | Other than finding out about this opportunity several years ago, I think the only thing I would do differently is to have thrown myself into building my businesses up a lot earlier on. I 'played around' for 6 months without really getting anywhere - I should have been working my backside off to build up the hits and improving my sites and products. I don't think I realised the potential at first and then when things started to happen, something clicked and I thought 'Hang on, if I can make this much money with 20 hits per day, how much could I make with 1000 hits?' | | | | | | Sunil | | What plans do you have for the future? | | | | Richard | | The eBooksnow† website is due for an update, so that is next on my list. Other than that, I am concentrating on building up my UK-Trader newsletter subscriber base. I would like to get to the stage where I have enough subscribers to start charging for the newsletter - whether I get there or not, we shall see..... | | | | | | Sunil | | Thanks Richard and best of luck with the future!
